OD205 architectuur and jefvandenputte architectuur merge to form new office:
Defesche Van den Putte Architecture and Urbanism

Peter Defesche (OD205 architectuur, Delft) and Jef van den Putte (jefvandenputte architectuur, Rotterdam) have decided to combine their ambitions, knowledge and expertise in one office: Defesche Van den Putte Architecture and Urban Design. By joining forces, the architects will be even better equipped to face the design challenges of today. Defesche Van den Putte (dvdp) is active in the field of architecture, urban design and interior design, tackling a wide range of commissions with a focus on the imaginative power of design and the ability of designers to solve problems.

The office Defesche Van den Putte Architecture and Urbanism now operates from Loods 6 on KNSM Island in Amsterdam, where it is working on urban design projects, large housing schemes, the transformation of buildings for the University of Twente and the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, and the redevelopment of healthcare buildings such as the Amsterdam Medical Centre.

According to Jef van den Putte, all dvdp projects reflect a shared ambition. “We are always looking for the essence of every assignment, for new solutions and forms of expression. At the same time, we advocate a self-assertive and proactive role for the architect in society. In that regard, the art of teamwork is hugely significant. We are delighted to bring together various parties on the basis of our strong commitment to quality in architecture.”

Among the completed works of OD205 are the National Library of the Netherlands in The Hague, the University of Twente, Eindhoven University of Technology and the Faculty of Medicine at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. In addition to its ongoing work for universities, the office has in recent years designed large-scale schemes in the housing and healthcare sectors. jefvandenputte architectuur has experience with a large number of such projects in the recent past. According to Peter Defesche, the time is ripe to take the next step: “Constant renewal is essential for quality. We see history as a source of inspiration and a fertile basis for a new chapter.”
