The house is located in the hills surrounding Madrid, in the small village of San Martin de Valdeiglesias. It is situated on a slope covered with maritime pines overlooking a lake, which supplies water to Madrid. The summer climate on this hillside location is much more pleasant than in the city.
A steep trail leads from the street to the entrance. The ground-floor spaces are grouped around a patio, with the living room and kitchen in a cantilevered volume that offers a view of the lake. This arrangement ensures a natural difference between the private character of the patio embedded in the rock and the open character of the view. The rooms on the first floor offer access to the roof terrace above the living room. The basic volume of the house is finished in wood, while the connection with the rocky hill is made of local stone.
